THROUGH HIS POWER

Mark 5:13

And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.

This poor man was under the control of a power that he could not break himself, but Jesus has more power than the devil! At His command, those demons left him and entered a herd of 2,000 swine and all those hogs ran down the side of a cliff and committed “suey-side” in the sea!

THE WRONG MASTER

Mark 5:1-3

And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:

In Mark 5:1-6 we can clearly tell that this man is under the control of Satan. In verse 13, we learn that when those demons left this man, they entered a heard of swine that number 2,000! This man was totally under the control of the devil!  So is every lost soul in this room and in the world, Eph. 2:1-3; John 8:44...

REMOVE THE WEDGE

Mark 5:7-10

And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

As with the demoniac, a lost man may not understand why he is driven to drink, use drugs, curse, or whatever it is that he does. It is a lifestyle that he becomes so hopelessly trapped in that he is unable to free himself. He is a prisoner of his own vices...

HIS HOPE?

Mark 5:6-8

But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.

Was there any hope for this man? He was a man sold under the influence of the evil in his life.  Again, he is a picture of that lost person who is out of control and under the strong influence of sin (Eph. 2:2-3)...

HIS CONDITION

In the next few devotionals, we are going to look at the various parts of this man's life, and what Jesus did as HE brings him BACK FROM THE DEAD!

First, we will look at his condition. Read Mark 5:1-7  to get a view of his condition, home, helplessness, and hopelessness...
